Originally started as just a culinary road-trip vacation, Car to Farm is a project that was born out of the idea to further explore the homemade side of cooking in the Italian countryside by creating a web-series and accompanying cookbook

What is car to farm?

We traveled throughout the North of Italy to the center of the peninsula and back around on a journey that took us to local farms (agriturismi), food producers, and small trattorie (restaurants). We interviewed our hosts and lived a day in their lives at their country homes or workplaces. At the end of each visit, all of our contacts gave us a quick and simple recipe using a few, fresh ingredients that can easily be made in your own kitchen. The food, stories, and inspirations gathered from these culinary experiences will soon become a cookbook for all to enjoy.

In today's society, we realize people are losing their connection to food. Instead of relying on restaurants and supermarkets as nutritional advisors, we need to educate ourselves and reverse the general idea of food acting as just a basic energy source. Our goal is to deliver this knowledge through the Car to Farm series.

Aside from the amazing off-the-map places that we have visited, meeting these extraordinary people made this journey an unforgettable experience

WHY CAR TO FARM?

Founder Mauro Clerici wanted to explore and celebrate the art of the Italian way of living, before supermarkets and big distribution changed the way we live. In today's society, we realize people are losing their connection to food. Instead of relying on restaurants and supermarkets as nutritional advisors, we need to educate ourselves and reverse the general idea of food acting as just a basic energy source. Our goal is to deliver this knowledge through the Car to Farm series.

Mauro describes Food with a “capital F” because to him, it expresses more than just what nourishes our bodies; it feeds our heart and soul; it captures our senses. Food is culture, tradition, and most of all, information. Where, how and with whom, are important aspects that enhance our entire dining experience.

In Italy, the art of dining is traditionally ingrained in our culture. When we eat, the food radiates the same passion and respect that we put in making it. Those who sit at the table, or even cook our food, influence not only our meals, but our mood and spirits.
